Guest Preacher - Richard J. Mouw on January 13

Richard J. Mouw, President, Fuller Theological Seminary, will be our guest preacher at BHPC Next Sunday, January 13, 2008.

“Our Spiritual Quests” Acts 17:22-34

In addition to being an outstanding seminary president, Dr. Mouw is a gifted philosopher, scholar, author and speaker. We are in for a great treat to have this servant of God as our guest, and urge you to invite friends and to be present on January 13.

Christmas Concert Benefit

The 30th Annual Christmas Celebration on December 8th served as a benefit for the rebuilding of Malibu Presbyterian Church. Music Director Nick Strimple directed combined choirs of over 50 voices and an orchestra in selections of Handel's Messiah. Throughout the music, celebrity reader Cindy Crawford wove readings from the Christmas story to accompany the music in the retelling of the story of Christ's birth.

In opening remarks, Pastor Dave Worth and Pastor Greg Hughes, of Malibu Presbyterian Church, spoke of the vision for rebuilding Malibu after the fires this past Fall. The real needs in Malibu provided a backdrop for the stirring rendition of the Christmas story in both music and word.

]]> The Choral Society of Southern California joined our own chancel Choir to provide the vocal foundation of the evening. Added to their strength, soloists Emily May, Tara Smith, Catherine Cooper, Suzanne Anderson, Marc Lowenstein and Cale Olson carried the evening. Dr. Frances Norbert accompanied the orchestra on the organ.

The event raised $10,000 for the rebuilding of Malibu Presbyterian Chruch.
