In 1973 the Beverly Vista Presbyterian Church and the Community Presbyterian Church merged into the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church, thereby combining two long and distinguished traditions of service to the community of Beverly Hills. Since the merger, the Chancel Choir of Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church has become a highly regarded member of the souther California music community. The Chancel Choir provides music for Sunday worship and, each year, offers at least one five week study course on some aspect of sacred music. There is also an acclaimed Sunday afternoon concert series which presents the finest in choral/orchestral music, chamber music and jazz music throughout the year. BHPC co-sponsors the Beverly Hills Chamber Music Festival and Master Classes, which occurs annually during the second week of August, as well as an Interfaith Conference and Concert, which takes place in the Spring. The Chancel Choir appeared as a guest ensemble with the Beverly Hills Symphony and the L. A. Jewish Symphony, and in 1987 was featured in the Fox TV Special: A Beverly Hills Christmas with Jimmy Stewart.
